Welcome to Psychedelic Art Exchange's September 2023 Mega Concert Poster Auction Session #2! This auction has over 100 different posters ranging in genres and ages, perfect for all collectors. If you've never looked at a concert poster auction and don't know where to begin, that's OK! Here are a few of my favorite gems from this month's auction!

1993 Nirvana In Utero Promotional Poster

Nirvana's third (and ultimately final) album, In Utero, turns 30 on September 21, 2023. This album featured songs such as "Rape Me", "Heart Shaped Box", and "Pennyroyal Tea". The album was marketed towards college-age people as well as alternative rock fans. The album stirred a bit of controversy -- due to the art and the song "Rape Me" -- which prompted Walmart and K-Mart to not carry the album.

Over 5 million copies of this album have been sold worldwide and the album is certified platinum five times over. Unfortunately, Nirvana co-founder, the now legendary Kurt Cobain, died on April 5, 1994. The band is still celebrated and enjoyed today, though many young people associate Nirvana as a brand and not a band. One day they'll figure it out.

This 24 x 33 poster is in Near Mint (81) and presents extremely well. As we are approaching the 30th anniversary of this album, interest may be slightly higher than normal. Prices for examples of this poster are typically soft. Many sell for under $110 when offered in auction. This is a worthwhile item that deserves a spot in your collection.

2001 The White Stripes The Troubadour Signed Loren Poster

The White Stripes became one of my favorite bands during my senior year of high school. Jack and Meg White created some memorable and creative songs between the two of them, with Seven Nation Army still being played in football stadiums (and other sporting events) across the USA.

The duo was active from 1997 until 2011 when they decided to branch out on their own. Jack White would go onto a very lucrative solo career while Meg White has chosen to stay out of the public eye. The White Stripes are considered one of the best rock duos of all time, and although the band has broken up, their work will live on.

In 2001 the band was set to perform at The Trubador in West Hollywood. The July 16, 2001 show was just after the release of the band's third album White Blood Cells. The album featured notable tracks such as Fell In Love With a Girl, We're Going to Be Friends, and Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground. The album would push them further into the limelight, with many noting this is one of their best albums. If you never got the chance to see The White Stripes live, they were incredible. It's amazing what just two people could do.

This poster is in Mint 91 condition and is signed by the artist Dennis Loren. Finding prior sales data on this poster is hard, but I believe it will sell for at least $150.

1990 Madonna Blonde Ambition World Tour LA Sports Arena Poster

In the 1990s, Madonna was on top. By 1990 the Queen of Pop had an endorsement deal with Pepsi, Like A Prayer was a top single, she appeared in the Dick Tracy movie, and in 1990 she started her Blonde Ambition world tour. As all eyes were on Madonna tickets for this tour were hard to come by. Madonna commands the stage like no one else -- with an effortless blend of sex, music, and her charisma, Rolling Stone magazine called this the best tour of the year.

This was Madonna's first time performing in both Sweden and Spain, and the tour was also rife with controversy thanks to the generous use of Catholic imagery throughout the show.

This poster is for the Blonde Ambition shows at the LA Sports Arena shows for May 11, 12, 13, 15, and 16. It shows Madonna naked and looking over her shoulder provocatively, inviting you into the whirlwind that was this show. If I had a time machine, there are a select few bands I'd love to see in the 80s and 90s -- Roxette, Queen, and Madonna. This poster is Mint 91 and should be on every pop fans' want list!
