The Walking Dead #118 Review

Ezekiel DOESN'T have a tiger.

The Good

You can never have too much Walking Dead, so this bi-weekly release schedule has me all giddy every other week, especially since All Out War has been great thus far. Just when we saw Rick and his crew put Negan and the Saviors at a loss, the tables have turned. Although it was bound to happen, it was a bit of a surprise to me seeing that it is so early in the arc. This book focuses a lot on Ezekiel, someone we haven't seen to much of lately. It had a lot of cool action, as well as some gut wrenching scenes that would make any reader of The Walking Dead shed a tear. Although it's always hard, every reader should be prepared for a loss of a character. I don't think, however, that anyone was prepared for the loss of their favorite tiger. Shiva saves Ezekiel's life, which in turn forfeits her own. This puts Ezekiel in a very dramatic position, and we see him at his lowest point so far.

Adlard's art is great as always, with some gory, vulgar guts and brains, nice action panels, and the pain on everyone's face is drawn beautifully. What I really liked was the beautiful two-page splash we got so early on.

The Not So Good

After the first few pages, we really didn't get much content. We did get a lot of nice action and great art from Adlard, but there's a small worry I have due to the fact that this is bi-weekly, and they may be rushing to put these books out. Although I do feel as if I breezed through this book a little bit quicker than others, It was still a great read and I have faith in the creative team behind The Walking Dead.

The Bottom Line

Once again we have another great installment of All Out War. This arc is turning out to be one of the best the series has seen in a long time, and I am always excited when I get to put The Walking Dead on my pull list. Although our fears of whether or not this arc will turn out to be a positive addition to The Walking Dead's story line cannot be put to bed yet, we are getting there. I'm giving The Walking Dead 118 a 4/5
